If you’re considering a toupee, the first thing you’ll want to know is how to make sure it stays on. Follow my post!
A toupee is a type of artificial hairpiece that provides a more natural appearance. The toupee is affixed to the scalp with a hairpiece adhesive (or glue), which will usually last for several weeks before it needs to be reapplied.
What are the different types of toupees?
There are four main types of toupees: Hair pieces, hair transplants, hair systems, and skin grafts.
Hair pieces are the most popular type of toupee. They consist of a hairpiece that is attached to a person’s natural hair using adhesive or clips. Hair transplants are also popular but they have more drastic results since they involve moving hair from one area of the scalp to another. Hair systems are similar to hair transplants but they involve wearing a wig rather than transplanting the hair. Skin grafts are not as common but they offer another option for people who cannot grow their own hair on their scalp or who have lost too much of it due to injury or illness.
Toupee Stay On?
Once oils are cleaned from the scalp and it has been dried, a toupee can be applied directly to the head using double-sided adhesives, which is a fast and easy method. These adhesives generally come in tape and glue form. This way is not recommended for people who perspire a lot since sweat and body oils can cause the adhesive to eventually fail.
A good toupee can be expensive. You have to consider the style, the quality of hair, the color, and the construction. The cost of a good toupee, or hairpiece, can vary depending on the quality and style. Often times a good wig will cost upwards of $1,000.
